We recently went to a documentary (Visages, Villages) in the Eye Film Museum but were surprised with a mini documentary before the movie started. It was called ‘Jimmy on the Run’. This short film is about fashion and street photographer Jimmy who loves to portrait the Amsterdam citizens, visitors and tourists. It immediately grabbed our attention.
The people love Jimmy’s work and are surprised by the talent he has to capture moments in the blink of an eye. The photographer might seem happy when you see him, but he also struggles with the expectations of his parents. Jimmy’s dad was hoping to open a restaurant with his son, but Jimmy had other plans. We are happy he followed his own path and are looking forward to see (a lot) more of his work.
The documentary won many prices in 2017 such as Best Documentary, Best Editing and the Audience Award at the Shortcutz Annual Awards. Jimmy is currently staying in Shenzhen, China.
